Russ Klitchman is the chief executive officer and
co-founder of Purple Monkey Studios, where he manages
the company's operations, financials, and strategic direction.
Since he and his partner, Steven, launched Purple Monkey
a decade ago, Russ has played a central role
in building it into a thriving company. Purple Monkey
now has 40 full-time employees and many satisfied clients
(one of the indicators most important to Russ is Purple
Monkey's client retention rate - currently at 70%).
Far from being a hands-off executive, Russ never strays
too far from the technology work he enjoys so much.
Even now, he finds opportunities to contribute his technical
leadership, software design, and development experience
to each Purple Monkey project. His work has been used,
sold and demonstrated internationally and has been described
in The Wall Street Journal, BYTE, PC Week, InfoWorld,
MIS Week, Communications of the ACM and the Chicago
Tribune.
In his over 21 years as a developer, Russ has used
high technology to solve the business challenges of
the day. While a Senior Research Associate in the Andersen
Consulting (now Accenture) Technology R&D center,
Russ was one of a handful of people involved in the
earliest days of CD-ROM and multimedia development.
One of the many projects he developed is widely recognized
as the first multimedia application to stream digital
video from a CD-ROM. (If
you enjoy technology too, get the details here.)
Russ has four children that keep him very busy away
from work with their various activities and interests.
He finds time to volunteer as a board member on the
District 106 Educational Foundation, coach T-ball, and
help at the LaGrange Art League. He also enjoys watercolor
painting and plans to pursue this interest further.
